Artist's Comments

This took so much more time and effort than I thought it would o_0;
  • Everything in parenthesis is a literal definition with the exception of "(Stealth) Voice of the Wind".
  • "Fear Not" was the closest I could get to "Fearless", I really tried. Sorry if its not loopy/intricate enough. But it is literal. Just like I couldn't find "Heal" but I could find "Hurt/Torment" then negate it, with "Not". Weird, no?
  • "Not" is actually a fairly easy rune which was not included here. These are just the ones I've used previously... except 'Fearless' of course.
  • FAIR WARNING: Reversing the image actually changes it's definition. Not resizing it though.
  • If there are tattoos made of any of these, I'd freakin' love a photo! (For shits & giggles as well as portfolio use.)
For Those Interested:
  1. With Jace it's "Speed", located on his wrist guards and boots.
  2. With Clary it's "Soundless", located on her armlets, dress, boots and sketchbook.
  3. With Alec it's "Invisible", located front and center on his T-Shirt. (Which is not included in this set.)
  4. With Izzy it's "Defense/Block", located on her shoulder.

  5. With Simon it's "maðr" which means 'Heaven', located on his keychain.
  6. With Magnus it's "Angelic Power", located on the leather on backs of his wrists. I should also point out that the other tattoos on his arm are basic Tribal Tats, the one on his shoulder is a Ying-Yang symbol, neither of them runes. (An explanation as to why is in his footnotes.)

They look amazing. Are these actual runes or did you make them up with some interpretation of real runes?

Three (maybe four) were copied from actual runes. even then they were done in brush stroke to make them more curvaceous, without losing definition.

The rest are still runes but overlaid, like "Sight" for example is "Light/Sun" laid over "(?)Reveal/Manifest", which would translate to giving someone magical sight or insight where there was none before.

Except for the 'Mortal Instruments' parts, which is spelled in runic alphabet and quite actual, if not long.

The "Mortal Instruments" bit? It's from a Pagan workbook my sister uses to teach her children from. It has runes/glyph translation against an alphabet for literal translations. Anything more specific, I'd have to ask her for the name, since I returned it months ago. ^^;

The rest are runes from "The Book of Elven Runes" which is handmade, gorgeous and old and absolutely unavailable nowadays.
